HYDRAULIC DAMPERS.

The hydraulic dampers have given little trouble.

The levers have remained firm, no noticeable stretching of the bolts has taken place. The loads have remained consistent. A loss of oil from the O.S. rear damper was caused by the rear joint having become loose. The glands have been free from leaks. Anchorage of dampers have given no trouble.

FRONT AXLE & FRONT AXLE CONTROL.

The front axle has shown no weakness. No wear can be observed in the pivot pins. A slight slackness has developed in the hub ball races. A quantity of oil escapes from the pivot pin and drains down the outside of the dust cover. The two bolt cap on bottom of pivot pin is not satisfactory. The joint opens out by the jar on the road which then allows oil to leak out and drain on to the brakes.

The front axle control ball joints were in a good condition, lubrication was good. This is with a bijur N° 3. The joint requires careful protection to keep out sand & grit. We fitted a rubber gaiter first, then the leather gaiter.

ELECTRICAL EQUIPMENT.

STARTER MOTOR.

It was reported during the first part of the mileage, that during the extreme cold weather the motor only just turned the engine, the condition of the battery was not stated. We have had no trouble in this respect whilst the car has been here. The motor has functioned satisfactory, there has been no slipping of the drive.

DYNAMO FITTED WITH SPECIAL GRADE BRUSHES.

The dynamo failed to charge during one mornings trip; the main fuse having blown. There was no outward reason for this, the conclusion being that whilst attending to the engine a short circuit must have accidently been made. It has given no trouble since. The dynamo brushes have become noisy at intervals, when dynamo was hot. The output is given on page 4.
