Izod Impact Figure 25 ft. lbs. minimum. The above figures clearly indicate that the mechanical properties of Stainless Iron and Stainless Steel compare very favourably with those of the highest qualities of other Alloy Steels and Tubes made from these materials should prove of great service to the Aeroplane and Motor Car Manufacturers. It is usually supposed that in order to make Stainless Iron and Stainless Steel non-corrosive it is necessary to highly polish the material; but this is not correct. If the surface of the material is a clean metallic surface and not distorted, it will be rustless and all tubes supplied by us will be treated so as to be rustless without polishing. It is almost ideal for the manufacture of Condenser Tubes. All material used in the manufacture by us of Stainless Iron and Stainless Steel Tubes is made by Messrs. Brown Bayley's Steel Works Ltd., under the personal direction of Mr. Harry Brearley, the discoverer of Stainless Steel. Stainless Iron and Stainless Steel Tubes can be used where no other Steel or Iron Tubes can be and when used in those positions where Steel or Iron Tubes are commonly used (and rapidly rust, corrode or otherwise deteriorate) will save their cost many times over.
