600 PRODUCTION WRAITHS. In order to enable you to go ahead and settle your cost for the above chassis, I am reviewing herewith Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Gry.{Shadwell Grylls}1/AP.1.2.38. with this object in view :- (1). REAR CRANKSHAFT BEARING. As this is running quite satisfactorily in France, with no signs of oil leakage, I have decided to release the pieces in accordance with Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}458. Details of these have already been made, and are running on the car in France. (2). VALVE SPRINGS. We have done sufficient running on the Tempered Spring Steel Co's wire for this chassis to justify us releasing valve springs with this type of material. (3). TIMING GEARS AND CAM BALANCER. I have decided to release the timing gears without the cam balancer, in accordance with drawing E.CD. 478, at the same time to be on the safe side the decision is that we shall use the hardened and ground cam wheel. Possibly after having completed our running in France we may be able to reconsider the soft gear, but at the moment we have not sufficient running to our credit to justify its release. It will be necessary for the D.O. to produce details from E.CD.478. (4). INLET PIPES, CARBURETTER, SILENCER AND PETROL DRAIN PIPES. We have decided to release these parts in accordance with those running on 26-G-VI. | ||
