To R.{Sir Henry Royce} from BJ.

BJ12/H8.12.22. Re 7-Goshawk. Maythorne Saloon.

With reference to R5/M1.12.22, there is no doubt that this car was designed and made in a hurry at a time when it was very essential that we should have the body made to test the chassis. Perhaps, under the circumstances, it was well that it was a heavy body.

I am arranging for drawings to be prepared showing exactly what type of body we shall build in the future and how far it will differ from this Maythorne saloon, in order that you may see that every care has been taken to overcome the disadvantages you mention, all of which have been very fully appreciated by the Sales officials and the coachbuilding designers for some considerable time.

I have requested that arrangements shall be made for Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} to release this car at the earliest possible moment, to have the alterations to seating accommodation, etc. made on the lines you suggest. I hope this will be satisfactory.
