.625 lbs. per ft. or 15 lbs. per car. Voltage drop .16 volts per 100 amps.

The external diameter of the No.0 cable is .6" over the braid.

From the above particulars I think it will be found that the No. 0 cable, larger capacity battery and American starting motor, either Westinghouse or Bijur, can be used without increase of total weight over the existing outfit and with very great advantage to our winter starting conditions.

BATTERY POSITION:

As already explained to Mr. Hives, the internal battery position has had to be abandoned because it is so inaccessible. We think, however, that we have found a better position than either the standard external or proposed internal; namely, to place the battery in the position at present occupied by the extra oil tank, this being omitted on American cars.

We think the battery box could be made a part of the long front mudguards which we are using in this country, and if painted the same as the front mudguards, would be very inconspicuous.

The starter cable would be reduced from 24 ft. or more to about 8 ft. with consequent improved starting performance and reduction in weight.

For England, if it is decided to continue with the extra oil tank, it would be possible to place the battery in a similar position on the right hand side of the car.

Since the battery would be behind the spare wheel in either case, it would clean up the running boards and would scarcely show in photographs.

We have already abandoned the tool box and are arranging to carry all necessary tools in the doors and under the front seat.

Yours truly,
