re. P.2. Bonnets.

X.7120.

With regard to the suggestion in paragraph 2 of Da{Bernard Day - Chassis Design}/Ev{Ivan Evernden - coachwork}1/M20.6.31., we would like to point out that we do instruct W. to supply drop sided bonnets in all cases now where there are to be no spare wheels carried at the sides, and not only on the Continental models. In view, however, of the prospect of our supplying more side wheel brackets in future on P.2's - in fact in all cases on the long chassis except when the customer insists on the wheels behind and in some cases on Continental models when the customer wishes to have more luggage accomodation and provided that W. see no objection to the different distribution of weight - it would not seem wise to standardise it at the present time. It would make no difference because we do take such opportunities as there are of supplying drop sided bonnets when we know that the design of the body and the position of the spare wheels will permit of it, and that should be alright for the time being.
