[Handwritten] GRY{Shadwell Grylls}- Please test these [Handwritten] Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} Petrol Filler Cap Leather. ----------------------- As a result of our E/Ev.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork}3/MN.9.6.36, we have received the attached specimens, very kindly obtained for us by the Order Office. There is a set of five leathers which have been treated with wax. The treatment by wax appears to make the leathers very hard, and to cause them to crack when bent. Altogether the treatment does not seem to be very satisfactory. There are also five samples of a cork compound washer known as "Corflex". These would appear to be very good provided that they do not disintegrate. We would be glad if you would make some tests of these washers with a view to arriving at something better than our present plain leather washer for standardisation.
