TOOL BOXES.

R.R.A.I. are proposing to fit on to all the imported Phantom ll cars a tool box in the frame.

In their case the whole of the 200 chassis are having one type of steering ( E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} steering) and the tool box can be got at by lifting the floor board under the driver's seat. There is ample room in the frame to get a tool box which will carry all the tools, jack, and spares.

We consider it would be well worth our while to look into the possibilities of this scheme. The present ('hole and corner') method of carrying tools is very unsatisfactory. Sometimes they are under the bonnet which, if well carried out, is very unsightly. Another time the tool boxes are on the running boards, which are far from satisfactory. Other times they are in odd places all round the car.

We think that if we could standardise a metal tool box as a part of the chassis it would definitely be less expensive and very much more satisfactory.
