BRAKE DRUMS.

We can do nothing with these brake drums for the moment. We believe you should convince the customer that he is very fortunate to have an experimental piece of apparatus, and will have to take the good with the bad.

CLUTCH.

We have now concluded experiments for fitting P.III clutch lining material to the Bentley. This makes the Bentley clutch delightful to operate. We hope to send you a plate in about three weeks' time.

I was delighted to hear that you had got on so well with your aero-dynamic Bentley. I am going to suggest that we take one of our present Bentley cars, scrap the body, make the necessary alterations to radiator, bonnet and dashboard as required, fit an up-to-date engine unit and exhaust system, and then hand it over to you to complete the experiment. I do hope that you have managed to make the car reasonable from an accommodation point of view, because the last experiment we did on a hundred-mile-an-hour product was ruined by the fact that no one had the slightest interest in the car when it was finished except ourselves.
