600 SECRET. S/W. Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Gry.{Shadwell Grylls} Cx{Major Len W. Cox - Advertising Manager}6/KW6.9.38 We are very anxious to have some information on the relative merits of the 25/30 of the past and the Wraith now coming into production, particularly as regards performance, unless you can tell us that the performance of the two cars so far as acceleration and speed are concerned are generally speaking the same. We are bound to have customers say to us as soon as we announce the Wraith - "how does it compare on performance with the old model ?" Therefore, if there are any technical differences giving rise to a difference in performance we should like to know what they are. One we have in mind is the fact that the gear ratio is higher and therefore under favourable circumstances the car would attain a higher maximum . The other is how the acceleration is affected by this higher ratio between engine and road wheels on the lower gears. You will I am sure appreciate the points I am getting at, and I would be glad to have any official data to circulate to our Retailers and our salesmen. I feel we must give them some details to work on so that they are all able to give information of a consistent nature to enquirers. As we should like to pass on any information you are able to give us to the Export Dept. at an early date, so that they can in turn get it into the hands of some of their Overseas Representatives by the date we announce the Wraith, I would be glad to have your reply at the earliest possible moment.
