- 2 - happy with his car as far as we were concerned, also having taken him round the Works and demonstrated the thoroughness taken in the manufacture and turning out of the chassis thoroughly tested and inspected. In testing his car the "axle growl" to which he referred was certainly bad, and we cannot possibly defend it. The trouble is chiefly the "period" in the drive, 45 - 40 m.p.h. This general fault on our 20/25 HP. cars has been fully appreciated by the Experimental Dept. as per their report, Ha/Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}3/KT.9.5.33. As instructed by you this morning, the Repair Dept. are now putting six sets of material in hand to deal with complaints and one of these will be applied to the above car as soon as ever possible. As this complaint is now becoming rather common and appears to develop to an objectionable stage after running about 1000 miles, we consider if the above cures are effected, that standardising should be considered. Even new cars are not entirely free from it. Having explained to the customer that we were not in a position to cure this trouble immediately, he rather begged to take the car away until we were ready to attend to same, and we would advise him accordingly. Having checked and attended to other features complained of, he left late in the afternoon. EP.{G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer} | ||
