X5520 X4118 To Hm.{Capt. W. Hallam - Head Repairs} from Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}7/LG31.10.28. With reference to GYL-62 Car. We have fitted the two shock dampers provided to this car with high pressure springs F.54807, washers .075" to give a downward ball pin load of 40 lbs. We do not consider that these shock dampers are 100% for absence of initial slack but knocks on the car are now unobstrusive. It would have been better to have selected two specially good production dampers in view of this customers persistent complaint.
