Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer} 7/F30.11.20. X2464 RE. CYLINDER VALVE STEM GUIDES. We find that slack is developed in these guides after the car has been in service for some time, and we feel that the slack in these guides, even when new, is excessive, the present limit for the exhaust being .008" and for the inlet .006". Some time ago I believe it was arranged for these clearances to be reduced to - exhaust .006" and inlet .004". I should be glad if this point could receive your consideration. At the same time, we should be glad if Sft. {Mr Swift} could instruct for very careful inspection to be given as regards the clearance of these valve stems. It is of course just as important to make quite sure that the minimum limits are also not exceeded. EP. {G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer} [STAMP] RECEIVED NOV 30 1920 | ||
