For the attention of Commdr. Matravers.

Dear Sirs,

We thank you for your letter of the 20th. inst., and the enclosed prints.

Unfortunately the increase of length and diameter of the cam shown on your M 22614 is considerably more than we can accommodate in our steering box.

We enclose a print showing the maximum possible increase of length and diameter. According to our somewhat approximate drawing the thickness of thread in the full lock position is sufficient, particularly in view of the fact that on the car it is almost impossible to put a heavy load on this portion of thread.

We confirm that the 84° rockershaft movement is between the stops in the box and not those on the front axle.

It is essential for our purposes that the new cam should fit our existing type of steering box, so that it is not possible for us to use either your M 22614 or P 3339. If you do not agree that the thread in the lock position, with the dimensions shown on our print, is adequate, we shall have to reduce the angular movement of the rockershaft. However, we wish to avoid this if possible.

Will you please manufacture three of these special cams to the dimensions shown on our print. You will notice that the small increase of length over cams to your M 22517 is obtained by reducing the clearance over the roller
