Modifying the rear spring setup from a Phantom II type to a Phantom III type.

It would be possible, no doubt, to change the Phantom II type clip to the Phantom III type and so gain approximately .2".

Looking at this drawing one is inclined to feel that the proposal would not work because in setting out this spring on full bump no allowance has been made for the wind-up of the spring due to the torque from the rear axle.

It would appear that what policy is to be finally adopted will have to be the subject of experiment. We presume it has been calculated that it would be cheaper to make the new front bracket for the rear spring than to fit new top plates to the existing Phantom II road springs. The advantage of the latter proposal would be the fact that the rest of the chassis would remain absolutely standard.
