(2) BENTLEY B. (1) For the same reason as on the A.{Mr Adams} model we now agree to leave out the idea of carrying tools in the scuttle. The road tools (mallet, jack, starting handle) will be fixed up under the bonnet by Derby. The remaining tools will be housed as follows: Open car - in drawer of trunks, & alongside trunks. Saloon - in drawer only. (2) We send herewith a tracing of the wheel, tyre, and dummy hub, which will enable you to make the cover for the spare wheel. The dummy hubs will be sent to you by Derby later. The cover should not be made a too good fit on the tyre and wheel for fear of variations in the latter. (3) No side ventilating louvres are required on the scuttle, but air scoops must be fitted on the near side. (4) We think it is a good idea to fit up the body on the dummy chassis, and makeit into a complete car for photographs, and the writer would like to come up when you are doing this, which we hope will be one day next week, as we wish to borrow your model radiator to loan to Derby to enable them to reproduce its shape. Every precaution should be taken to avoid the photographs getting out of the hands of yourself, or such persons in the Company who have knowledge of Bentley B. We suggest that you fit up a set of Lucas headlamps R.170. SED., on wooden pillars as on the 25HP. RR., and attached sketch shews the lamp centres. Some sort of front apron will be needed, and the type we have in mind is given on the attached sketch. Lucas streamline wing lamps will be fitted. Mr. Honeyman will lend you a set of headlamps and wing lamps if you have not any in stock. (5) We hope that you have by now found your print of the modified frame - R.{Sir Henry Royce} sch. 3516. This drawing shews you the new position of the steering box. Yours faithfully, for ROLLS ROYCE LTD. (SGD) EV.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork} | ||
