[Handwritten text] Factory Cost. 3£ 15s - 0 existing 15s approx saving or 20% Dear Sirs, Further to your esteemed enquiry of the 18th. inst., with regard to Camshafts for your 12-Cylinder Car Engine, having made a careful study of your blue print, we would say the Shaft is quite suitable for casting, with the exception of the screwed end, which we suggest you modify, as shown on our Drawing TD.3022, enclosed herewith. As the Shaft is shown machined all over, it would not be satisfactory to make this from a Wood Pattern, but to give you a truly representative sample of production camshafts we advocate you permitting us to make an ALL METAL PATTERN at a cost of....£20. 0. 0d. which would ensure straightness in the casting, i.e. eliminating any risk of Wooden Pattern warpage. The cost of experimental castings would be...10/6d. each and the price of production castings considerably lower, but this latter point we can no doubt leave until you have completed your technical experiments, should you decide to proceed with them. It would take some 15 days to make the Metal Pattern and sample casting could be submitted in a further 2/3 days. TERMS: Net Cash Monthly.
