| COPY. "Selwyn" Trentham, Stock-on-Trent. 6th.Aug.1930. Messrs. Rolls-Royce Ltd., Derby. Ch. 90-NC. GHJ-78. GDP-69. Dear Sirs, Your Inspector Captain Strong called on July 15th. to inspect my cars - 90-NC., GHJ-78 and GDP-69. I do not know whether you have yet received his report, but with reference to my new car, GDP-69, the Servo brakes require adjusting, as when these are operated the braking comes on with a bump. The steering has a "knock in" on one lock. The off side front spring squeaks badly. The instrument board inspection lamps are not wired up to cut out from the master switch on the switch box. The cigar lighter on the instrument board has shorted and has caused the wood to burn through. Fortunately this was detected in time to prevent the whole car from being set on fire. This cigar lighter ought to have had a control switch independent of the master switch on the switch box to prevent any such catastrophe. I am under the impression that your Inspector attends at the premises of the body builders (Victor Broom, Hyde Park Corner) to inspect and approve of the whole of the car wiring. I shall be glad to know whether it would be convenient for me to send this car to Derby early next week, say the 11th. or 12th. inst. As I leave tomorrow,(Thursday) for Eastbourne, I shall be glad if you will address your reply to me at the Queen's Hotel, Eastbourne. Thanking you in anticipation, Yours faithfully, (Sgd). E.R. Corn. COPY of PENCIL NOTE. D/AWS. We shall be pleased to receive car either date mentioned when points enumerated will have our attention. Hd{Mr Hayward/Mr Huddy}/FHA.7.8.30. | ||
