FGM/AGS/CB. DALLOW ROAD, LUTON. 13th. June, 1933. Messrs. Rolls-Royce Ltd., DERBY. Dear Sirs, For the attention of Mr. Robotham. Following the visit of the writer to your Works on the 30th May, we understood that we were to receive your confirming order for one of our "J" Type Marles-Weller Steering Gears, this gear being made in accordance with the arrangements come to between us. We have put in hand this Gear as arranged, the gear being in accordance with your drawings Ex11209 and 11226, and being a special pitch giving a helix angle of 9°54 mins, and a average gear ratio of 14.2 to 1. We understood that there was some query as regards the size of the control tubes, and that this matter was to be cleared up at your end, so as to ensure that the tubes would go through the gear. We presume that you will be sending us the drop arm in due course for this gear, which we understand to be a 7 1/2" Drop Arm for us to machine the top end for fitting the rockershaft, and shall be glad of your advice as to when we may expect this, as the gear is now well in hand, and we hope to complete this in about a week's time. [Handwritten Annotation]: Sat MORNING Assuring you of our best attention at all times. We are, Yours faithfully, for ADAMANT ENGINEERING COMPANY LIMITED [Signature] Director. | ||
