J.{Mr Johnson W.M.} Hutton. GXO-69.

Hm.{Capt. W. Hallam - Head Repairs} has already seen a copy of this owner's complaint dated the 29th ult. I am getting in touch with Mr. Hutton with a view to dealing with some of the points which he is worried about. Meanwhile I/shall be glad to have some remarks reach me on Monday next on the following points :-

Is it agreed or not that the engines of the series now being produced for the 25 H.P. Chassis prove any more difficult to adjust for "idling" smoothly, than the case of last years' 20 H.P. engines. If it is the case do you find this due to carburation difficulty adjustments, or some other cause.

I cannot be sure what Mr. Hutton's trouble is in respect of his gate in connection with gear-changing - he speaks of insufficient protection from grit. I have not met this trouble. Can Hm.{Capt. W. Hallam - Head Repairs} please explain ?

Mr. Hutton is greatly worried, and is not alone in this, because the dynamo output is so small in relation to the load called upon when all lamps are alight at night. I am aware of the consideration now being given to this matter, and the talk of the intermediate dynamo types etc, but would like to know if we have a machine which we could immediately fit to Mr. Hutton's car, for which incidentally, we should not be in a position to charge, which is capable of dealing with the electric lighting load. I am aware there are machines of the larger capacity type which we, from time to time fit at special request, but I do not know to what extent these are capable of covering the whole load asked for.
