Page 2 Messrs. Rolls-Royce Ltd. he made very close contact with the bellows manufacturing concerns. It appears that the reason that the diaphragm bellows was adopted was because General Motors objected very strongly to the bellows ring which exists in the U.S.A., and determined to make thermostats without bellows. We hear also from other well informed sources that these diaphragm bellows are infinitely more troublesome than the hydraulically formed or rolled type previously employed, which is what we would have expected in view of the number of joints used in their construction.
