Your Ref: Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Std.9/MH{M. Huckerby}: November 1st, 1938.

Messrs. Rolls-Royce Ltd.
DERBY.

Dear Sirs,

For the attention of Mr.C.Steadman.

We thank you for your letter of October 31st.

The writer regrets that in the letter which he wrote to you on the 20th October in connection with these rheostats, he omitted to mention that although the external appearance is the same, the internal construction is quite different, and the sticking to which you refer has been completely eliminated.

The two rheostats which you say you are returning have not yet arrived and if by any chance they have not yet been despatched perhaps you will examine one. If they have already been despatched we will send one back.

The writer also regrets that he entirely forgot to arrange for the diaphragm bellows thermostat to be sent to you. This has now been put in hand. We are not at the moment manufacturing these in quantity and the one which is being sent to you is an experimental unit which was originally made for Vauxhall Motors.

For your interest, Mr.Sherlock, our Technical Director, is just returning from a six weeks trip in the States, and during the course of his travels
