INSULATING SLEEVES MOULDED IN
BRITISH DYESTUFFS POWDER.

We have tested two of these sleeves (E.21468) moulded in the B.D.C. powder grade S. A.L.376/31 in the laboratory and find that after 24 hours immersion in water each sleeve would easily withstand 15,000 volts R.M.S. applied as specified on the drawing. We have observed that the standard Redmanol sleeves leak badly at high temperatures such as would normally be the case on the exhaust wires on the engine and as this leakage affects the sparking plug voltage we suggest that we ought to use the best non-leaky powder for these sleeves on the same basis as for the ignition coil cases. We are, therefore, carrying out leakage tests on these B.D.C. sleeves to compare them with the standard Redmanol.
