C O P Y THE SOCIETY OF BRITISH AIRCRAFT CONSTRUCTORS, LIMITED, 1, Albemarle Street, London, W.1. Ref: 4/190. 7th April, 1931. Dear Sir, D.T.D. Specification No.37 - Flexible Fibre for Jointing Purposes and B.S. Specification No.216 - 1926, Vulcanised Fibre for Electrical Purposes. ---------------------------------------------------- I am informed by the Air Ministry that these two Specifications cover practically the same material and it should be possible therefore to cancel one of them. The British Standard Specification covers a more flexible type of fibre than does D.T.D.37, and the chlorine content is also lower. The Ministry consider therefore that the British Standard Specification should be adopted for aircraft purposes, and that D.T.D.37 should be cancelled. Would you kindly let me have your views on this question. Yours faithfully, (Signed) H.{Arthur M. Hanbury - Head Complaints} R.{Sir Henry Royce} GILLMAN, Secretary. To the TECHNICAL COMMITTEE HRG/IP. | ||
