RR. E.16. DIRECT DRIVE NOSE
AND THRUST BEARING.

The results of the thrust tests on the
New Departure bearing No.215. recently made by HS.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}, and
a discussion with Col. Fell regarding the thrusts taken
by propellers in practice bears out our belief that
bearing No.215. can be used in place of bearing No.313.
for the thrust bearing for direct drive on the above
engine.
(SENT TO BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} FRIDAY LAST)
In view of this we send you herewith
drawing LeC. 2177. shewing modifications required to
the shaft and bearing housing to enable bearing No. 215.
to be incorporated on the same lines as No.313. was
previously.

The aforegoing modifications will considerably lighten the whole job.
