Contd, -2- El/M11.5.22. must be inspected while the engine is running and as it is not possible to entirely remove the dynamo end cover owing to the presence of the magneto drive shaft and as it is again undesirable to leave the cover loose jangling about and shorting the brushes while the engine is running we have arranged to clamp it by means of the lubricator as shewn on LeC..1571 We should be glad to know if the Works consider that a practical inspection of the brushes can be made under these conditions. We have not altered the dynamo cover or the dynamo itself beyond asking for a lock washer under the lubricator. All that is required is a special form of lubricator and a hole in the cover, this hole being normally at the bottom of the cover when in position on the dynamo. So far as we can see the dynamo cover can be easily slipped over the top of the lubricator for the purposee of clamping. it is intended that the lubricator cap will be prevented from coming right off should it become unscrewed when the cover is in its normal position on the dynamo.
