S3 FRONT WINGS

It has just been reported that Chassis No. SHS 45, which embodies the double spot welds and the zinc rich primer on both panels, is showing signs of rippling as on the previous cars. I realise you can do nothing about this now but this complaint is now rapidly becoming one of our most difficult and expensive complaints. This construction of a spot weld lap joint on a visible area of the car is a disastrous form of construction and I hope it will never be used again on any of our bodies.

So far no method of repair is proving permanent because of the impossibility of getting rid of the corrosion which already exists between the spot welds. We are now trying brazing in the hope that it might be more permanent.

As the complaint is purely one of appearance the cost and difficulty seems out of proportion to the nature of the complaint and I have wondered if there might be any means of covering it up by means of an additional styling strip. Would JPB be good enough to have a look at this to see whether anything of this nature is practicable. We should save a lot of money if this were feasible.
