3. the front springs have too quick a period, and
(Contd.) the rear are too flexible.
The springing was improved by making the front shock absorbers 35 Lbs (approx) and the rear 50 Lbs.all round.
(We do not think the shock absorbers will stand this condition of running and have written them further about this.)
It was suggested that the springing could be considerably dampened without much loss in comfort by fitting Watsons Stabilizers.

4. CRANKCASE DRAIN PLUG.
Trouble was experienced by the drain plug in the crankcase working loose, which Wright reports he found in this condition on two occasions, although he was emphatic that it was tightened up by him after the first occasion.
It is suggested that a locking device should be arranged for this plug.

5. CARBON DEPOSIT.
Wright reports that this seemed to be forming rather rapidly, and the engine commenced to detonate rather badly. At the same time there were no other symptoms or trouble to show that the engine was overoiling.
This engine was not fitted with the scraper type rings, but arrangements have been made for these to be fitted by the Service Depot when the engine is dismantled for decarbonising.

6. OIL LEAK FROM ENGINE.
Wright reports there was an oil leak from the crankcase just above the oil pump flange. There does not appear to be any crack and the fault seemed to be due to a blow hole or porous casting, but he has arranged for this to have attention when the engine is being cleaned at the Service Depot.
This appears to be a point for attention during our routine of inspection and test.

7. INSTRUMENT BOARD CLOCK.
Wright states that this was very erratic, sometimes went and sometimes stopped, and he considers it advisable to send a new one and have the old one returned, which I take it is a point for Sales Dept. attention.

8. NARROW WHEEL TRACK.
This feature was considered by Springfield as being very detrimental, which Wright also
