Carburetters.

On the question of twin or single carburetters we notice that with the increase in engine speeds, several makers who had been using twin have gone to single.
If we have an easy and a quiet third it may mean that the advantages with the twin carburetter at low engine speeds will to some extent be discounted.
We think the developments for twin carburetters on 'Japan lll' can follow on after we have got them on Phantom ll.

Petrol Pump.

Provision should be made on the engine to drive the petrol pump. Tests are now proceeding on the R.R. petrol pump on Phantom ll.

Apart from the engine, the outstanding complaint of the 25HP. is shock absorbers. This is being dealt with in the improved design.

The riding of the 25 HP. has got to be improved. In order to do this it will be necessary to have lower rating front springs. We are rather frightened of this move because originally we had lower rating front springs on the 20 HP. and we had no end of complaints of front springs breaking. We strongly recommend that we should re-consider the design of the front spring to allow for more deflection.

Starter Motor.

The starter motor with a relay button on the instrument board is undoubtedly the nicest way of starting.
