PRIVATE 1139 a 8006 To Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/AA.{D. Abbot-Anderson}2/B.1.4.40. As you know, I used the 3 B.50 on my last trip south. I do not wish to start any bother, but I was held up for a whole afternoon. Fortunately the trouble occurred in Lillie Hall where I was getting petrol. The engine failed and after a considerable amount of trouble the cause was found to be in the petrol filter on the rear crossmember. This was literally half full of sediment and dirt which was completely choking the system. If the trouble had occurred elsewhere or in London traffic which I had been in just previously, it would have been extremely awkward as there were no tools whatever on the car. I have given Frank Dodd a small box containing the dirt removed from the filter and told him what happened. I do not know what sort of service scheme is in existence at the Garage, but I feel we might introduce a system based on our proposed service scheme for our post-war products and so try it out and at the same time keep our own cars up to concert pitch.
