Rectifications and observations on an experimental chassis, with a focus on brake performance.

(c) Rectified bob weights rattling (front bumper).

(d) Fitted new rubber buffers to front bumpers.

(e) The radiator shutters were rattling, but in view of the urgent call from S stating that the car would be needed for demonstration runs, this rattle was not eliminated.

Apart from the details of the report, I have very few observations to make. These are:-

(1) The brake drums were not skimmed, owing to the fact that this chassis is an experimental chassis and possibly a report was being kept of the mileage run.

(2) On final test after relining the brakes, the brakes were still inclined to pull very slightly to the O/S.

(3) As regards "burning in" on road test, there was nothing abnormal in the treatment of this chassis as compared with that of any standard 3½-litre.

(4) On delivery (it must be understood here that the Trials Driver from S was waiting for the car) as there was still a very slight brake pull and the car was being used for Demonstration work, the Driver was instructed to use his brakes as much as possible before giving the run.

(5) I saw Cx{Major Len W. Cox - Advertising Manager} on the morning after the event. He told me himself that he had done quite a considerable mileage on the Kingston-by-Pass the previous morning before handing the car over for general Trials work and that the brakes and steering were in order.

(6) I am given to understand by Mr. Crawford of LH{Mr Haworth} that the brakes were up to standard and that they pulled up dead square before being handed over to Cx.{Major Len W. Cox - Advertising Manager}
