To RG.{Mr Rowledge} from R.{Sir Henry Royce} c. to BJ. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} X3841 R1/M28.10.26. F.10 CARBURETTERS. X.3933 X.3841 Carburation for this engine seems to be possible in 3 ways :- (1) Carburetters in the Vee using the Claudel instru-ments, and the pipes we have schemed for a permanent arrangement of this type. (2) Carburetters fore and aft using the RR. duplex horizontal Claudels. (3) One double carb. only aft of the RR. Claudel pattern. Each of these systems would give a certain HP. and consumption, and I think they should all be tried out in their ultimate form. They should be tested in conjunction with new cyl. block castings having the bar feature extended across the siamesed inlet and exhaust openings for strengthening and extending the water cooling of the head. The revised heads should be on the engines intended for the flying test. R.{Sir Henry Royce} | ||
