To BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} from DA.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} c. to BJ. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} X7450 DA{Bernard Day - Chassis Design}3/M3. 9. 26. SIDE STEERING TUBE. X. 8430 X. 8450 X. 7450 We send herewith N.sch.2258 shewing revised 1500 lb. side steering tube springs, which have been done following Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rn{Mr Robinson}7/XXT23. 8. 26., from which we understand that the original 1500 lb. springs are rather overstressed at the maximum bump. Instead of greatly reducing the stress we have taken the opportunity to give you some more movement and by proportioning the length of the springs we have been able to give you a double rating, as suggested in one part of Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rn{Mr Robinson}'s report on steering. Since this is a matter affecting production cars we think that it should be pushed forward experimentally as fast as possible. DA{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} | ||
