EAC.7. FRICTION HEAD IN SERVO LINKAGE.

X. 7370 X. 7310 X. 7420

With reference to the complaint that it is found impossible to get more than 16 lbs. in the front brake rod from the spring on N.sch. 2274, we send herewith N.sch. 2393, shewing a spring made of square wire, which, giving 640 lbs. with the same co-efficient of friction, ought to give 25 lbs. in the brake rod. The washers are slightly altered to accommodate the square wire.

This is intended for the existing car. When the new gearbox is designed this point will be gone over again.
