RECEIVED 22 MAY 1926 re. 40/50 HP. Chassis. Position of Lucas Oiler. A special note of the above was taken during a recent 250 miles run with a new car on test, 43-TC, and Mr. Wyer, who made this run, reports as follows:- "I fitted one of the standard Lucas Oilers, supplied with the tools into its clip provided, which is rivetted to one of the louvres of the side engine guard right over the main exhaust pipe, and between the hot spot pipe in front and the rear down pipe at the rear end of this bracket. The oiler was but half full, but oil came out of the oiler and spread all round the clip and louvre and dropped to the floor of the garage after a long run, due perhaps to excessive heat and vibration, as it is not rigid and is free to move quite a lot. I would like to suggest that a better place to fix it would be on the bonnet strip just rear of the carburetter. The clip supplied for holding the oiler is not a good job, as it is very weak at the point of the two fixing holes in the long upright portion not used by us, and the material seems quite soft and without spring.
