X.4359. "GOSHAWK II" DYNAMO OF OTHER MAKE. X.294. X.4341
X.4342. "GOSHAWK II" MOTOR. X.543.

This is to confirm that I have arranged in conversation with Mr. Thacker that in accordance with Mr. Royce's instructions contained in E5/G6.4.21 and R9/G6.4.21, your Dept. will look into the question of the possibility of adapting other makers' dynamos and motors for the Goshawk II chassis.

The particular makes suggested are as follows :-

Dynamos.
Rotax A.T.8
Smith 4D.
C.A.V.(type not known at the moment).

Motors.
C.A.V. type SC.
Rotax M.T.10 type.
Smith SS{S. Smith} and 4 LS types.

Will By.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} and Wd.{Mr Wood/Mr Whitehead} kindly note in answer to Wd{Mr Wood/Mr Whitehead}3/NJ11.4.21 and Wd{Mr Wood/Mr Whitehead}4/NJ2.4.21. that we consider the types of C.A.V. motors there suggested to be suitable.

It is therefore arranged that Mr. Day's dept. write to Messrs. C.A.Vandervell, Smith, and Rotax, making enquiries with regard to the flange fixing of the particular dynamos and motors above mentioned for Goshawk II. At the same time we should be glad if Wd.{Mr Wood/Mr Whitehead} would order up for experimental purposes one of the SB{Mr Bull/Mr Bannister} type starter motors suitable for the 40/50 chassis, except that we do not require any
