To Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} from Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} re Bensport. Sg{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD}4/E22.2.33
Copy to EV.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork}

I have read with very great interest Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}1/KT.21.2.33. Speaking generally it looks as if the car were showing up very well on test.

Re the silent second speed which will not stay in, I should be glad to know what scheme this is and in what way it differs from the silent second which we are proposing to standardise on "Z" Series of the 20/25 chassis?

He says: "Obviously it is possible to revert to the standard 28 gear", but I am not quite clear what he means by that. Does he mean the non-silent second?

Re steering wheel, I imagine that there is no difficulty in getting a rim with the more pronounced grooves. As a matter of fact the spring steering wheel which you got for me to try some few months ago had these.

Re stone guard for radiator, I always had in mind that the Bentley should have one, if only from the point of view of sporty appearance.

I remember discussing this with EV.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork} and, if I remember correctly, he said that, if one had radiator shutters, it was going to make it extremely difficult to clean the front of the radiator if there were a guard there as well. I have written him to-day as per the attached copy.

Re Petrol Pumps. The clattering referred to when the tank begins to get empty is what I experienced in France last year with 19-B-d and you will remember reported about it. The pumps being used are, I believe, the same type.

I hope that this can be overcome by the better tank baffling he suggests as I imagine at this date we do not want to change the type of pump.

Re bodywork. You will see that I have commented
