BENTLEY IGNITION CONTACT BREAKER.

With further reference to Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD}18/E.18.12.33 we would say that we have experienced in the Experimental Dept., several instances of the present standard 20/25 and 40/50 contact breaker lever seizing up on its pivot pin and some time ago the matter was taken up by By.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} with a view to altering the material or if possible producing some means of lubrication for the pivot.

We have since ascertained that this trouble also occurs frequently in the hands of customers and Cricklewood report that they have had at least twenty to deal with. One of the most recent cases was on Chassis GHJ52 (Mr.Caulfield of Buxton) where a complaint of persistent misfiring was eventually traced to this cause.
