-4- (a) The same as for the 20 HP. Test sheet No.201. There are 303 20/25 H.P. cars (up to and including G.T.P. series) to which this modification may have to be fitted. (b) Copper and asbestos, steel lined joint washers are fitted. (c) This is a relatively scarce complaint and only necessitates refitting the silencer lagging. We shall shortly cease fitting lagging to rear silencers on 20/25 HP. cars. (3) Phantom I CARS. Total complaints 5. (4 at Cricklewood 1 at the Works). (a) Failure of cylinder head joint washers - 2 complaints. (b) Exhaust cut out seized - 1 complaint. (c) Fit new downtake pipes - 1 complaint. (d) Fit new seal neck pipe - 1 complaint. The remedy for (a) is to fit copper and asbestos steel lined washers, the remaining complaints are so scarce and varied as not to warrant any special action. (4) Phantom II cars. Total complaints 33 (26 at Cricklewood 6 at the Works, 1 at Paris). There are eight causes of complaint on Phantom II cars :- (1) Exhaust blows from the sliding joint in the intermediate pipe - 20 complaints. The failure of the sliding joint in some cases also necessitates attention to the cut out valve due to the rear silencer moving rearwards and upsetting the valve control setting; 9 cars of the 20 in this category had the cut out valve attended to. (2) Free cut out valve - 2 complaints. (3) Manifold joint washers fail - 1 complaint. (4) Manifold nuts loose - 1 complaint. (5) Fit stronger spring to cut out - 1 car (6) Plug up silencer drain hole - 1 car (7) Refit spherical washer in downtake pipe joint - 1 car (8) Explosions in the silencer - 1 car | ||
