X2924 MINUTES OF WORKS COMMITTEE MEETING. 1ST DECEMBER 1921. Present - Hr. EP.{G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer} Wd.{Mr Wood/Mr Whitehead} Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} Hm.{Capt. W. Hallam - Head Repairs} Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} Hy.{Tom Haldenby - Plant Engineer} BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} Copy to - R.{Sir Henry Royce} CJ. Bd.{Mr Berend} C. Hr. EP.{G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer} Wd.{Mr Wood/Mr Whitehead} Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} Hm.{Capt. W. Hallam - Head Repairs} Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} Hy.{Tom Haldenby - Plant Engineer} BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} ------------------------- CAMOUFLAGING GOSHAWK. Reference BJ2/H28.11.21 to Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} and previous correspondence. Works do not accept that they alone are responsible for people talking about Goshawk II, for when W. have done all they possibly can to camouflage Goshawk they feel that it will only be a small portion; for instance, coachbuilders, people from whom we get our accessories, such as C.A.V. or Lucas, people from whom we get our springs, frames, etc. all must know about Goshawk, and are probably talking about it. However, W. will do their very best to camouflage Goshawk as far as they possibly can. The following suggestions were agreed to:- (a) That the bonnet should be painted, and the hinges altered, so as to make it look as unlike R.R. as possible. (b) The radiator should have a new shaped tank and a different radiator cap, and it should be painted; there should be no polish and it should be as rough as possible, although at the same time being a good job. (c) That there should be no monograms or lettering of any sort on the car. This would affect hub caps, controls, carburetter, front axle, radiator etc. (d) That there should be locks on the bonnet and that the bonnet should always be locked, except when necessary to open it. The Committee agreed that BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer}, Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} and EP.{G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer} should get together to do all they can to get this camouflage done as soon as possible. | ||
