J.{Mr Johnson W.M.} 3. & 4 GEARBOX.

With reference to HS{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/GRY{Shadwell Grylls}1/MJ31031, would it not be desireable to run the reverse under full engine torque for some period. Probably you would not expect it to stand up for half an hour, but one thinks it should stand up for such a period as 10 mins. for instance.

The D.{John DeLooze - Company Secretary} O.{Mr Oldham} suggested that 4 keys should be used to retain the reverse wheel on the shaft, but we think that 2 should be enough. Would Expl. Dept. please verify this. We suggest that the keys should be capable of taking the full torque without aid from the taper. This could perhaps be proved by tightening the nut with something less then the maximum force.
