--------------------

Herewith we send N.sch. 3354. shewing some modi-
fications requested by the Expl. Dept.

(1) The two diameters on the 3rd. motion shaft prevent
the bearing jamming the gear. Advantage has been taken of this
to run the serrations under the ball bearing. Will Derby
please say if this presents any difficulty?

(2) A method of fixing the cones to the sliding piece
by means of countersunk screws without slots in the head.

(3) Drilled rivets for holding the cone to the constant
mesh wheel.
