To improve springing.

Experimental Test Report.
The chief advantage in the gaiter is that the friction in the spring remains reasonably constant over a long period of time.

Road Test Report.
Fitted to hundreds of R-R cars on the road. Run on Expl: cars for 15,000 miles.
