Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}3/LG11.8.22. SIDE FILLER FOR 40/50 CHASSIS PETROL TANK. For years our Sales Dept. have been requesting a side filler for the petrol tank in order to enable customers to fill up with petrol when luggage is on the back of the car. The side filler is standard on the Goshawk, it also has been standard on the American cars for a considerable time. We are recommending that we use the petrol tank exactly as it is except that we add the side filler. As the side filler will have no inlet gauze, we propose removing the inlet gauze from the existing filler. We wish to retain the existing filler in order to provide a means of measuring the amount of petrol in the tank. It is agreed that it would be desirable to fit a petrol level gauge also, but at the moment we have no satisfactory level gauge, and we do not think the side filler should be delayed for this.
