In the meantime we hope that by sending you a picture of the layout, you may with your experience be able to pick on something which will help us in this respect.

The design of your "Non bend back" chain in a case like ours appears to possess some advantage as an anti period and silent chain and you will no doubt be able to tell us of its possibilities.

The attached drawing is to scale if you wish to take any dimensions or if there is any further information you require you will let us know.

In conjunction with the "Non bend back" chain we wonder how you would deal with the expansion of the cast iron cylinder block and aluminium head as from cold to hot conditions there would be a .010" expansion upon the chain and we understand that with this particular type of chain you do not use any tensioner.

Thanking you in anticipation of your help.

Yours faithfully,

FOR ROLLS-ROYCE LIMITED.
