We then tired the tyres and wheels on the car. The mudguard clearance was only just sufficient and made fitting the wheels awkward although there was plenty of room once they were on. We pointed out that snow chains could not be used, but this would also be true of the standard tyres with these mudguards as they are of the close fitting cycle type.

His Lordship then tried the car first with the 6.50 tyres and then with this standard tyres. The improvement in both comfort and handling was apparent, and the directional stability and cornering were noticeably better when using the 6.50-17 tyres on the rear.

Lord Cholmondeley will communicate with us after further running with the large tyres.

He would be very glad to hear the results obtained on the skid pan with 'pneugrippad' tyres.
