CHASSIS 3.BU.16. With regard to the correspondence you have sent over about Sir George Martin's car we have to admit that it would be better to change the oil every 5,000 miles and this is being incorporated in new Instruction Books. As you have done all the previous correspondence we think it would be as well if you replied to Messrs. Cox's last letter and suggest you do so on the following lines:- "With regard to your letter of May 25th. although we do not think any harm will come to the engine by only changing the engine oil every 10,000 miles, we think that as you have had trouble due to dirt in the tappet mechanism it would be as well to recommend to this particular owner that he changes the oil every 5,000 miles. The dangers of petrol dilution of the oil are exceedingly small because owing to the oil cooler on the P.III car which maintains the oil at approximately 80°C all petrol will have boiled away." corres. returned k Hd{Mr Hayward/Mr Huddy}/Sd, Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Gry.{Shadwell Grylls} | ||
