re. 40/50 HP. Chassis Troubles - Belt Drives.

Thanks for your memo BY23/H27.6.24, which certainly shows that the points referred to in my EP{G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer}5/H20.6.24. have received and are receiving attention.

We take it however, that the jobs referred to which are to be investigated will be pushed by Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}

As regards the Belt Drive - the information we have is that we have tried one or two of the special multi-link Belts, which we understand are those referred to in Paragraph 2 .(d.{John DeLooze - Company Secretary}) of your memo, and the experience we have had so far rather shows that these are an advantage over the half link Whittle type as regards noise. We cannot say how they behave as regards reliability, but we shall be glad if Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} will confirm this or otherwise as unless he has any objection, we suggest that this belt should be standardised.

Mx.{John H Maddocks - Chief Proving Officer} will show you some cam shaft "squeakers".

EP.{G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer}
