Contd:-3- (3) Contd:- The flexible pipe to the carburetter seems to be a possible offender in harbouring foreign matter, or producing it by action of the perte petrol. Further investigations proceeding. E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} considering a filter and trap to be fixed adjacent to the float chamber. BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} considers the float spindle mechanism requires some improvement, and has taken up the matter with E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} Doubts have been expressed as to present design. It has been pointed out that the present modern tendency is for a simple float and top needle, well flushed with petrol supply etc., also float chamber more accessible for cleaning purposes. The above, I hope, summarises for you the urgent position to date yet to be settled. The position and views, however, appear to be changing daily. ------------ Further details of the position dealing with the correspondence, and other information generally, in case you require it, is also attached.
