J.{Mr Johnson W.M.} 3. IGNITION WIRING & COIL MOUNTING.

Please find herewith print of LeC. 3004. shewing the above.

The ignition wire tube is made up of two sheet aluminium pressings as proposed by you with a paper tube lining. The pressings are interchangeable.

We selected the coil position after much trial. There appears to be insufficient room for mounting the coil on the front end of the cylinder head due to the more forward position of the ignition tower and the proximity of the fan.

The coil appears unobjectionable when held up to the engine in the position shewn, and should operate under cooler conditions than exist above.

We have made the central connection to the coil easily detachable to facilitate inspection of the make and break.

The coil can also be easily exchanged for a spare which could be carried on the dash.

We are not sure what system of carburetter and induction pipe will be used eventually, but hope it will be of the new RR. Expanding pattern.

With the double carburetters shewn the connections to the plugs are not ideal, and we have had to suggest a new terminal with the minimum of exposed metal to avoid shorting.

The conductors on their way to the carrier tube have to avoid the hot spot connections, and cannot be looped down in any way on account of the carburetter throttle levers.
